The versatile trails of Ala-Koitajoki are located at the border of Joensuu and Ilomantsi, by the river Koitajoki. You can do a small daytrip to the accessible campfire site, or hike as much as 35 kilometers along the riverside.

The Nature Trail of Vekarus is a striking trail to visit. About 2 kilometers long, it goes around as many as three rapids. The area has three campfire sites. The campfire site closest to the parking area is also wheelchair accessible.

Close to the center of Joensuu, the Kuhasalo recreation area can surprise a first-time visitor withits maritime atmosphere. All the official trails of the area, as well as the six campfire sites arewheelchair accessible.

The versatile Kalliojärven kierros trail is 3,5 km long and offers striking precipice views. There are some duckboards and an idyllic shelter along the trail.

Along the Käyrälampi Outdoor Trail there are diverse forests and beautiful views of Käyrälampi and the Jyräänjoki River. A  bridge over the Käyräjoki River allows you to walk around the entire Käyrälampi pond. The ring trail is about six kilometres long. Come and experience the wilderness atmosphere right next to the settlement.  You can walk, cycle, use a wheelchair, a wheelchair scooter or a pushchair. Along the route there are three fireplace rest stops, two of which are accessible.
