Ultimate via ferrata tour above Engelberg
The Fürenwand via ferrata above Engelberg/Titlis stretches over about 6.8 km and takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete. The ascent is over 776 m and the highest point of the via ferrata tour is at 1,842 m. This via ferrata is not for the faint-hearted. With a rating of D/E (difficult), it offers experienced via ferrata walkers the ultimate climbing challenge. The via ferrata is technically demanding and extremely exposed, but thanks to its excellent protection it is still a safe adventure.
The via ferrata tour leads through the steep, 250 m high Fürenwand. Before entering the wall, be sure to check your via ferrata set. The steep wall ends at the Jägerband, where you can take a short rest on an exposed wooden bench and enjoy the view. Here you have reached about half of the tour. A dramatic wall traverse follows, where it can be slippery. The final section is an almost 20-metre long, exposed rope ladder that challenges your muscles and your determination once again. At the finish, the Fürenalp mountain restaurant offers you a welcome stop for refreshments. From here you can take the Fürenalp cable car down to the valley or walk down on the hiking trail.

The via ferrata season in Engelberg usually lasts from mid-May to mid-October. The via ferratas on Brunnistöckli (K2), Zittergrat (K4) and Fürenwand (K4-K5) are accessible from mid-May to mid-October. The Rigidalstock (K2) is open from the beginning of June to mid-October and the Graustock (K3) from the end of June to the beginning of October.
