On a winter hike through the Valüna valley, you will be immersed in a fairytale winter landscape. This idyllic winter hiking trail has a length of around 5.5 km and is easy to master. The well-prepared and signposted trail leads along the romantic Saminabach stream and between snow-covered trees and bushes to Alp Valüna, which is, however, closed in winter. The difference in altitude on the winter hike is around 100 hm and the tour takes about 1 hr. and 27 min. The way back is via the same route. Enjoy the tranquillity of nature and then stop off in the cosy hamlet of Steg to warm up.
Tip: You can take a 40-minute detour to the Sücka mountain inn, where you can enjoy a delicious fondue and round off the day perfectly.

The Sassweg is a jewel among the winter hikes in the Principality. This popular winter hiking tour above picturesque Malbun offers a moderately difficult, around 4.4 km long route through an enchanting winter landscape. The winter hiking tour leads you gently upwards through a sparse forest and past high snow walls, leg pines and sunny snow hollows. The starting point of the winter hike is the romantic Peace Chapel in Malbun, at the foot of the impressive Ochsenkopf massif. During the hike, which takes about two hours, you can enjoy magnificent views of the valley and the well-known winter sports resort. The highlight of the winter hiking tour is Sassförkle, at 1,786 m the highest point. From here you have a breathtaking view of the Augstenberg and the untouched snowy landscape around Malbun. The leisurely descent leads via the Alpe Sass to the Schneefluchtlift and back to the heart of Malbun.
Tip: This winter hike is also excellent as a snowshoe tour.

The Liechtenstein Trail is an impressive hiking trail that stretches through all 11 municipalities of Liechtenstein. With a total length of 75 km and ascents and descents of 2,000 hm each, it offers a demanding but rewarding challenge for hikers. The altitude ranges from 429 m to 1,103 m and the pure hiking time is about 21 hours. The Liechtenstein Trail offers unforgettable experiences in winter as well as in the warmer months. Peppered with idyllic resting places and impressive views, the winter hiking trails run exclusively on existing paths and are accessible from every municipality. If the weather is uncertain, there are alternative routes, some by public transport, to avoid the higher altitudes.

Liechtenstein Trail Winter Stages
- Stage 1 Balzers-Triesenberg - leads from Balzers in the extreme south of Liechtenstein to Triesenberg, you pass the medieval Gutenberg Castle, follow the old Roman road, climb to the St. Mamerten Chapel and up to the Walser village of Triesenberg. - 2nd stage Vaduz-Schaan-Planken-Nendeln - for winter hiking, the route should be easy to walk, the route length is around 16 km, an alternative is the Liechtenstein-Weg Winter: Alternative Triesen-Vaduz.
- 3rd stage Nendeln-Eschen-Gamprin/Bendern-Ruggell - from Nedeln you go via Eschen, Gamprin-Bendern to Ruggell, in Eschen you can expect some smaller ascents and descents, which can be rushing in snow, the route length is 15 km.
- 4. Stage Ruggell-Schellenberg-Mauren-Schaanwald - from the northernmost municipality of Ruggell, the tour leads through the Ruggeller Riet, then over the Schellenberg to Mauren and Schaanwald, in Schellenberg a few ascents and descents can be slippery, best to bring sticks, the route length is 19 km.
