Good mix of lanes. Done on a dry summers day after the heatwave. Including Violets Lane for the first time and a few other favourites. Starting at John Bunyan pub and then north via lanes up to Whitwell and back again - nice loop. Some good lanes and good afternoons drive.

Easy route when dry around Herts. Can be muddy really when wet. Doable with big bikes with knobblies even when really wet. A couple of good up hills involved.

Start and end points of a few lanes to check out. Check TW2 for lane details before setting off. Note that TL4620-03 near Bishops Stortford was blocked by a huge fallen tree after a recent big storm and had to turn back.

T This is not an off-road route. It is off tarmac. Unfortunately OA does not recognise the significant difference between these two.  Driving off-road is illegal in the UK unless with the owners permission, unlikely unless for money, and can result in one’s car being seized and crushed.
