The Map of Current Avalanche Warnings
When planning winter activities it is crucial to have access to a current avalanche report. Many routes in the Alps that pass through snow-covered areas can only be done if the weather is stable and the risk of avalanches is low.
This is the reason why Outdooractive provides you with an interactive and easy-to-use map highlighting avalanche risk levels in the German, Swiss and Austrian Alps as well as South Tyrol.
The data we use comes from official avalanche warning systems that are located in these areas and the information is updated as conditions change.
The Detailed Avalanche Bulletin
One click on any symbol will open a window showing the detailed avalanche bulletin for the respective region. The information displayed includes an extensive assessment of the danger levels, avalanche risk and the snow cover.
You will also see general trends, a review of conditions over the past days and a legend explaining the most important terms.
Safer planning using Outdooractive tools
When you open any winter route, such as a ski or snowshoe tour, the current avalanche report symbol will be superimposed. Clicking on this will open the full bulletin.
Slope angles are a key factor in determining avalanche risks. When opening a winter route a map gradients are shown in a layer that opens automtically. This way you can increase your planning capability to better asses and mitigate risks.
